Sunday morning and the sun was shining in Limoux for the dancing groups and bands parading around the streets and main square of the town. To think ‘carnival’ all started here, it’s said there would be no Rio de Janeiro or Notting Hill, or any other carnival if in the 14th century the millers of Limoux hadn’t had a parade to celebrate paying their taxes! Can’t wait for this coming weekend which sees the end of the three month celebrations with the ‘Night of the Blanquette’ where the local sparkling wine and forerunner to champagne flows freely!
